Quito.- In order to analyze the situation of the Open Data in Ecuador, the Undersecretary of the Promotion of the Information Society and Online Government, Mr. Juan Carlos Jaramillo, and officials of the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Society of (MINTEL) met with representatives of the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).
Open Data, also known as Open Data, promotes the availability of information freely for all people, without copyright restrictions or other mechanisms.
In this case, the opening of Government data involves the competencies of MINTEL in the country’s research and regulatory field, especially in the development of projects and public policies that promote industry and service for citizens, in order to improve the local productive development of the country. During his speech, Undersecretary Jaramillo explained the importance of Open Data to the country. “The publication of Open Data responds to the principles of transparency, citizen participation and value generation, through innovation. In turn, it recognizes a right of citizens to know what the Central Government executes. ”
It is important to note that KISDI has worked with MINTEL since June of this year, involving actors from the private, public and civil society sectors.
The meeting gathered observations from the consultancy, in order to enhance the current data model.
