Young people from Loja: Jose Antonio Córdova, Augusto Avendaño, Juan Diego Palacio and Mateo Sánchez, won a contest with its technological project ‘Connect to the Air’, consisting of a wireless connector, which allows the loading of cellphones and appliances without using wires . They were the winners of the Idea Bank, from the Ministry of Higher Education (Senescyt). The Government, through this institution, gave them a $ 50,000 prize for the manufacture of new prototypes; in addition to promoting their project. ‘Connect to the Air’ aims to change the old way of transporting electricity and replacing traditional batteries, in order to eliminate risks such as explosions, shorts, among others. As a second part of the project, a wireless modem, easy connection to a wireless network is created. One feature of the device is that it will allow to charge 70% of the battery of a cellphone at the same time and its efficiency would be similar to a phone loaded with cables. Jose Antonio said that the purpose of the group is massively sell the product internationally. “We are part of changing the productive matrix, of which the Vice President, Jorge Glas talks about. “The country should encourage local production in order to avoid importing”, said the young entrepreneur.
